The Sunday Six: March 2nd, 2008

So Melissa tagged me with this "share six unimportant things about yourself" game, but I think I'll twist the rules a little and incorporate it into The Sunday Six.

1/ you link back to the person who tagged you.
2/ post these rules on your blog.
3/ share six unimportant things about yourself.

  1. I entered Seventeen's 17 "best-dressed girls in America" contest this afternoon -- the deadline was March 1st, 2008. My camera broke so I just used an old outfit that was already saved on my laptop. I'm definitely not expecting to win because there's probably many beautiful well-dressed girls who've entered the contest, but it's worth a shot. I always anticipate the contest results every year because I'm really interested in seeing what the "best-dressed" girls are like. It'd be fun and interesting to be a minature style icon before your 18th birthday, no?
  2. I'm currently obsessed with the song "Letter to Me" by Brad Paisley. You can view the video on Youtube here. I dedicate this song to all 17 year olds and those who are 17 at heart -- the lyrics are shamelessly honest and sweet. Country music has heart, y'all.
  3. My favorite artist is Gianlorenzo Bernini of Italian Baroque. There's something about his sculpture that incites physical excitement, emotional exuberance, and mental dynamism. His pieces literally appear to move, though eternally frozen in time. While the Baroque era was theatrical and grandiose, Bernini's work manages to maintain these elements while exhibiting a quiet elegance.

  4. Carine Roitfeld must be fascinating to interview but not someone I'd invite over for a cup of tea. There's probably not enough caffeine in the tea for her.
  5. I've always wanted to write a book, but I don't know if I actually can. When I was in 7th grade, I submitted to a children's anthology a short story I wrote for English class that received a "C" grade from my teacher, and my story was actually chosen. It was such a terrible story though, with a horridly short ending because I don't know how to write satisfying endings. I feel like it's only logical that someday I should seriously try to write a book though. These thoughts have to conclude somewhere, right?
  6. I almost love personal blogs better than fashion blogs. The truth is, there are only a few fashion blogs that I truly cannot take my eyes off of, such as Susie Bubble. I think more personal blogs are great because you get to see the person behind the computer screen -- and what's a blog but an online publishing device anyways? There has to be substance behind the blog, and many times personal blogs do this better than the average fashion blog.
4/ tag six random people at the end of your entry.
5/ let the tagged people know by leaving a comment on their blogs.

Okay, this is when I start breaking rules. I'd love it if some of you could post this in your blogs so that I could get to know you more, but no one's obligated to do so. Thus, I tag all of you (watch me get zero responses)!
